Feniks got the honor to play against refounded Hungarian national team. We met in the beautiful place at the outskirts of Budapest. Two excellent games were played and the expectations and impressions were more than satisfactory...
At news on this website you could read between the lines that a lot of stuff is not resolved and not defined in the Hungarian Association sitting volleyball (too). It was one of the reasons for the breakup of the Hungarian national team after participating in the World Championships in Oklahoma in year 2010th. Fortunately, the sport has a significant positive trait to bring and hold people together, regardless of who is the winner in the sport field. Of course, "some" enthusiasm and love for the sport is necessary. Our friend Andras, now well known to Feniks friends, also played a key role here. After 3 years of chaos he has managed to bring together the players, the coach and to rebuild the team.
To make things more festive and more official, there was required an opposing team. The best thing would be if it was a team abroad, out of Hungary. Now, when you already have a team from a neighboring country competing in the national championship, it has become an obvious choice, especially if this team meets the criterion of the level of play. Of course, this chance was not to be missed.
Thus, the Feniks team got the honor to play versus refounded Hungarian national team. We were more modest in our request that was met - they refunded our travel expenses, and that's enough. Satisfaction of the game was mutual.
Matches were played in the new building of the National Institute for Medical Rehabilitation, on the northwestern margins of Budapest. It is a modern, specialised purpose facility, placed on a hill, surrounded by trees and silence, sport hall has high ceilings, a bunch of devices for exercise, the best environment you would wish.
This nostalgic oldtimer probably has it's own story and a reason why is set there.
In the first game all present national team members get a chance to play. Feniks won this match by 3:1.
In the second game the selected Hungarian team defeated us by 3:0, but with minimal differences in points in each set.
So there were played two excellent games and the expectations and impressions were more than satisfactory for both sides.

Re-establishment of the Hungarian men's team requires informing people. It has caused the move of the sitting volleyball website. Now it is attached to the site of regular volleyball ("Röplabda"), and there exist a separate page of updates about sitting volleyball in Hungary.
